Here's some troubleshooting steps you can try
1. Make sure you're using actual PowerPoint, not the viewer or website and that you allow macros
2. It should only take 20-30 seconds to boot, if it takes longer, click on the slideshow window to make sure it's in focus
3. Lagging issue maybe related to your graphics drivers or you've just disabled hardware graphics acceleration in show settings
